World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) Signs Commitment to Support Patient Safety Movement’s Mission of Zero Patient Deaths by 2020

Del

The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) has signed a commitment to action and announced that it will support the Patient Safety Movement Foundation (PSMF) and its mission to eliminate preventable deaths by the year 2020. Concurrently, the PSMF is joining the WFSA’s SAFE-T (Safe Anaesthesia For Everybody – Today) campaign to advance access to safe and affordable anesthesia around the world. The WFSA will formally announce its commitment at the 5th Annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit, Feb. 3-4, 2017, in Dana Point, California.

Since 1955, WFSA has served as the foremost global alliance of anesthesiologists, working together with national, regional and specialty organizations to facilitate and promote the highest standards of patient care. They work with National Societies of Anaesthesiology, the World Health Organization (WHO), governments, surgical organizations, NGOs, hospitals, training centers, and other organizations to support safe surgery and access to safe anesthesia. Through its network of thousands of anesthesiologists in more than 150 countries, the WFSA will demonstrate their commitment to PSMF’s mission of zero deaths by 2020 by annually disseminating Actionable Patient Safety Solutions (APSS) and asking members working in hospitals to make commitments to reducing preventable patient deaths; updating its International Standards for a Safe Practice of Anaesthesia; and working with the PSMF to develop APSS appropriate for healthcare organizations in low-resource countries.

By joining WFSA’s Safe Anaesthesia For Everybody – Today (SAFE-T) campaign, the PSMF becomes part of a global collaboration of industry and patient-focused organizations and WFSA’s network of anesthesia professionals committed to patient safety and advancing the International Standards for a Safe Practice of Anaesthesia. PSMF also agrees to share available data pertaining to meeting the International Standards globally and to work collaboratively with the WFSA and other consortium members to improve the practice of and access to safe anesthesia.

“We are happy to announce our commitment to action to the Patient Safety Movement. The movement has made a significant impact on patient safety in a short period of time, and we look forward to working together to create APSS for low-resource countries to reduce preventable patient harm and death,” said Dr. Gonzalo Barreiro, President of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists. “We also look forward to working with the PSMF on the SAFE-T campaign as we collaborate to ‘map the gap’ in access to safe anaesthesia and use this data to influence advancement in every hospital, and for every patient.”

“The Patient Safety Movement Foundation is excited to formalize its working relationship with the venerable World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists to further our joint mission of improving patient safety and preventing needless surgical deaths throughout the world,” said Joe Kiani, Founder of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. “WSFA’s vast global network of members is ideally positioned to help us make substantial strides toward our goal of achieving zero patient deaths by 2020. Our team looks forward to working closely with WFSA’s member organizations to advance safer surgical practices and access to anesthesia.”

About The Patient Safety Movement Foundation

More than 200,000 people die every year in U.S. hospitals in ways that could have been prevented. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation was established through the support of the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare, to reduce that number of preventable deaths to 0 by 2020 (0x2020). Improving patient safety will require a collaborative effort from all stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, medical technology companies, government, employers, and private payors. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation works with all stakeholders to address the problems and solutions of patient safety. The Foundation also convenes Patient Safety, Science and Technology summits. The first annual Summit was held in January 2013 and brought together some of our nation’s best minds for thought-provoking discussions and new ideas to challenge the status quo. By presenting specific, high-impact recipes to meet patient safety challenges, encouraging medical technology companies to share the data for whom their products are purchased, and asking hospitals to make commitments to implement Actionable Patient Safety Solutions, the Foundation is working toward zero preventable deaths by 2020. SM-Optics Unveils First FLEXSET Chip, Paving the Way to Optical Micro Nodes23.2.2018 14:00Pressemelding

SM-Optics launches FLEXSET, a single chip embedding multiple processing functionalities raising the bar for performances, density and architectural flexibility. The FLEXSET is the heart of the Lightmode product family. FLEXSET OTN switching matrix scales from 300Gbps to 1Tbps and can be addressed by ports spanning from traditional low-speed services like 2Mbps over micro-OTN, to layer2 and layer3 over ODUFlex, 100G over ODU4 and 200G over FlexO. Thanks to its embedded capabilities including multi-technology OAM, packet processing, synchronization and fast protection functions, FLEXSET operates by design at the lowest latency performances and features an Intel Stratix 10 FPGA. Following the launch of micro-OTN, a revolutionary approach to efficiently extend OTN protocol to low speed services, the launch of FLEXSET advances the vision of a highly interconnected metro network and of micro nodes. Revolving around functional block elements, micro nodes collapse in few rack units OTN and pho
