Mitel Enables Nationwide Voice and Video Over LTE in Indonesia With Smartfren

OTTAWA, Feb. 23, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel® (Nasdaq:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a global leader in real-time business, cloud and mobile communications, today announced deployment of its voice and video over LTE solution to support Smartfren’s recently announced Andromax LTE mobile device launch. Smartfren will work closely with Mitel on the rapid rollout of new mobile services starting in 2016. Indonesia is the fifth geography to introduce VoLTE from Mitel including major service launches in North America with T-Mobile US and in Europe with 3UK.

The speed of Smartfren’s 4G LTE deployment has eclipsed the rollout in other regions, highlighting the enormous potential for software-based mobile solutions across Asia. As mobile operators face intense competition from disruptive market players and over-the-top application services, Mitel's software-only VoLTE solution allows rapid deployment optimized for driving continuous service innovation and new revenue opportunities. The solution also supports multi-device service delivery giving operators the ability to offer a richer suite of integrated IP services across all access points and devices, regardless of access network technology.

Since 2012 Mitel has supported the introduction of milestone mobile deployments including the first VoLTE, first North American Rich Communications Services (RCS), first IMS VoWiFi, and first network functions virtualization (NFV)-based IMS implementation. With the Smartfren launch in Indonesia, Mitel adds to the list with the first nationwide VoLTE service launch in the region.
